Anxiety can be quite debilitating. You find yourself flooded with irrational thoughts and don't know what to do. Often times it can be due to the fear of the unknown or feeling like you don't have control over an outcome or situation. At the same time, everyone is different. Anxiety can manifest in many different ways such as not being able to sit still, biting nails, having racing thoughts, having physical ailments such as headaches or stomach aches, difficulty falling or staying asleep, not having much patience, lashing out at others, among many other ways. Sometimes it is brewing in the background and will come forward unexpectedly. Other times it spills over and holds you back from enjoying the life you are worth living. However anxiety may look and feel for you, there is no question that it can be quite challenging.
Relief from anxiety is possible. You can take back control of your life and live happily. As we work together we will address your anxiety by identifying the root cause, identifying your triggers, and developing healthy coping strategies that will bring you peace in your every day life.
High functioning depression can look different for everyone. It is not always the case for everyone struggling with depression to be stuck in bed all day, skip eating, or not shower. Those who struggle with high functioning depression appear to have it all together on the outside. They wear a mask daily to cover how they truly feel. They are high achievers wanting to be successful. They push through the difficult times by overcompensating for what they are missing. Other people in their lives may be shocked to learn that they are depressed. Often hearing "What could you be depressed about?" or "You have a great life, career, etc."
It is possible to find happiness. To enjoy the life you are worth having. We will work together to peel back the layers of your depression. Exploring where it is coming from, what fuels these feelings, improving self-esteem, as well as identifying healthy coping strategies to incorporate on a regular basis.
Life transitions can look different for everyone. This can be when you experience some sort of change that may take your life in a different direction. It can be something you planned for or was completely unexpected. Anything from changing jobs, moving from one home to another, changes in relationships, graduating school, growing your family, among many other changes in life.
Together we will work on building your confidence and focusing on what IS within your control instead of what is NOT in your control. You will acknowledge the challenges and fear that are behind this life transition. We will develop a plan for how to use healthy coping strategies that will support you through this transition.
Mindfulness has been clinically proven to have incredible benefits for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, physical pain, among other issues. Mindfulness practices help to increase awareness of the present moment. You get to slow down and really feel. You learn to be curious about your present experience by activating your senses. These practices are involved through psychological or physical exercises. This can be in the form of meditations (silent, guided, visual) or through mindful movement such as walking or even yoga.
There is no one prescription of incorporating mindfulness into therapy. Everyone will respond to the different mindfulness practices differently. However, it is a helpful tool to use while in therapy as you work through any challenges and are on your path to overall wellness.
Being a woman in leadership has evolved over the years. We are seeing more representation in different work environments each day. Yet, there are still many challenges that have held back many women who are qualified from positions of leadership. Due to the perceptions and wrong stereotypes of women there are sometimes situations where women in leadership positions find themselves working harder and longer to prove them wrong. There are multiple responsibilities and thoughts to be aware of that women in leadership juggle, beyond those of the actual role.
Together we will develop a plan for your professional goals, discuss ways to navigate different challenges in the workplace, how to enhance and promote your visibility in your field, and increasing confidence in having difficult conversations. Furthermore, providing space to explore ways to have a realistic and healthy work-life balance.
